Who We Are
The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce is the gateway to the Wainwright region Business Community.
The Chamber of Commerce is a voluntary, not for profit organization, of businesses and professionals, along with community members, who combine their efforts as concerned citizens to improve our community within the region of Wainwright. Incorporated under the Board of Trade Act and a member of both the Alberta Chambers of Commerce and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
We are a strong and viable organization representing the needs of the community, a federation uniting the efforts of businesses, professionals, organizations and individuals to ensure a healthy economic and socio-economic base to benefit the entire community.
Our strength lies in the number and diversity of our membership. The Chamber harnesses the tremendous potential of the private enterprise system and enables its membership to accomplish collectively what no one could do individually, creating a pool of resources from which one can draw ideas, energy, and finances.
The 21st century Chamber is the hub of community development and prosperity. In addition to being the voice of business, it typically provides its members a host of benefits designed to gain visibility, provide resources and tools to help them compete in the new world market.
Many businesses both small and large support the Chamber because it is simply good business. The Chamber works closely with many other organizations to achieve its goals.
The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce is in business for business. But it doesn’t stop there! In our efforts to undertake involvement and initiatives to fulfill our objectives of encouraging a healthy business environment, we provide activities for everyone. We offer activities for business, individuals, youth and families to participate in and enjoy. To achieve a healthy business environment, Wainwright & area must also be a good place to live, work, do business and visit.
What we do
The Chamber invites businesses, professionals, organizations and individuals into a strong central body with a common goal of improving business and providing opportunities for growth within the community.
It represents and promotes the area's economy and encourages business and industry, broadening the tax base and providing employment. To prospects and newcomers, the Chamber represents the community's self image. The Chamber of Commerce is a viable force in seeking solutions to today’s social problems. The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce takes great pride in its ability to work together with other organizations and agencies, where there has been a common interest that would affect the lives of people living in our community. Without people, businesses would not be able to exist.
While the Chamber of Commerce does promote and work fulltime on behalf of the business community we are also very concerned about the economy of the community at large. In order to achieve a high quality of life for those who live, work, do business and visit here, the economy needs to continue to be strong.
The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce represents approximately 200 community businesses and organizations, representing every aspect of the local community. Through activities such as the Trade Show, Small Business Week - GALA Awards, involvement with Wainwright Economic Development Board, Wainwright Regional Tourism Development Committee, Trail of the Buffalo, and our Membership Directory/Buyer Guide and Website, we work constantly to increase the visibility of our Members.
While remembering the hard-working, forward thinking, community-minded people of the past, the Chamber looks forward with enthusiasm and optimism to the challenging years ahead. We are dedicated to helping and promoting local businesses and are here for the community and ensure that your concerns are voiced to the right areas in order to improve.
The Chamber combines your views with the views and ideas of other members, and as such is the central clearinghouse for thought and action helping make positive things happen.
