- Community Development Resource Centre
The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Wainwright Economic Development Board & Wainwright Main Street Project established the Community Development Resource Centre. Not only do the three entities share the same office space at #202, 1006 - 4th Avenue, but also they independently and jointly promote business activity in the area.
The Centre is local source of information offering a small business library, a computer for public research information for businesses, residents, newcomers and visitors. Inquiries about the community come from across the country, both from individuals and businesses alike. Recreational activities, demographics, directories, maps and information are available from the center and accessible during regular business hours Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
The Boardroom is available to non-profit organizations and groups on a first come fist service basis.
- Strategic Plan
The Board participated in a Strategic Planning Session, in an effort to pre-plan the chamber’s goals and provide direction for our annual programs, promotions and projects.
The plan ensured the transparency of the Chamber’s objectives and efforts to serve our members.
The Strategic Plan defines the Chamber’s role in a dynamic non-profit environment, enhances and solidifies our value proposition to members. It also provided the 2004 Board of Directors with a clear and concise plan of action and will continue to assist their sucessors.
- By-Laws
The Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce was founded under the Board of Trade Act in June of 1945. Over the past couple of years the By-Laws have been thoroughly reviewed, which resulted in several revision recommendations. In the autumn of 2004 the by-laws were completely updated to reflect these recommendations. As required by the Board of Trade Act the revisions required the approval of Industry Canada. The revisions were approved November 22nd, 2004.
- Policies
The Board reviewed old policies, developed new ones and created a Policy Manual to provide guidance, to govern the direction of the Chamber, and to give clear definition of the roles, responsibilities, expectations and activities of the Chamber allowing the Executive Director to effectively carry out the work of the Chamber.
