Wainwright's Actual 100th Birthday
The village of Wainwright was established.

- Where: On land owned by The Grand Trunk Pacific Railway through it’s “Town and Development Company”.
- Why: The name “Wainwright” was chosen in honor on William Wainwright, who at the time was the Second Vice-President of the GTP.

Celebrating 100 Years of ‘the Steel’ in Wainwright
Wainwright Railway Preservation Society
A full day of activities at the Rail Park.
- Where: Wainwright Rail Park
- 1300 - 4 Avenue S. (Canola Road)
- Why: The railway arrived in Wainwright on July 21, 1908.
- Pancake Breakfast: 8:00 - 10:00 a.m.
- Tours:of their railcars & display buildings starting at 10:00 a.m.
- A historical walking tour: of C N R Wainwright Yard (includes remaining concrete footings of
structures from the steam era and is done in an area well away from any active tracks)at 1:00 p.m.
- Music: by Allen Desnoyers and the Canadiana Musical Theatre Co. 2:00 p.m.
- Demonstrations: of order hooping and tracklaying using antique track tools. 3:00 p.m.
- Music: by Allen Desnoyers and the Canadiana Musical Theatre Co. 4:00 p.m.
- Wainwright Rail Park closes. 5:00 p.m.
- The Finale: the Canadiana Musical Theatre Company’s performance of “The Ties That Bind”. Location & 6:00 - 9:00 p.m.
The rip-roaring, boogiewoogie, bluegrass musical celebrates how Canada's great railway tied a nation together.
During the show, surveyors brave the elements, navvies blast mountains, and workers lay miles of track as they dream of a rail journey across a new country.
The cast depicts Sir John A. MacDonald, Alexander McKenzie, Sanford Fleming, William Van Horne, Andrew Onderdonck, A.B. Rogers, and a score of others.
