PRESS RELEASE
April 20, 2007

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors met to discuss the downtown activities and the parade that the Chamber has facilitated during Stampede Week for the past number of years. These Community Events are volunteer and committee driven. A call for volunteers to help out with these events was in the newspaper and on the Chamber's website, with no response.

It was deep regret that due to a shortage of volunteers to help with these events the Board was forced to withdraw from organizing these activities. The Chamber is happy to assist Community Events, but does not have the resources available to continue to facilitate them.

Wainwright and District, is a region that offers its residents a place to live, work and play. Always evolving and forever growing - we know that this community will continue to flourish. Other non-profit organizations focus on the wellness and enjoyment of our community, the Wainwright & District Chamber of Commerce encourages these organizations in their efforts.

We are 100% committed to see the downtown activities and parade continue and are working with the Wainwright Frontier & Exhibition Agricultural Society and their volunteers on the 2007 Stampede Parade. We would be thrilled to assist any organization that wants to take on the downtown events, or a portion there of.

As our Membership and community grows, the Board must shift our focus back to our Membership and the business community. The area's economic well being is directly related to the calibre of work that is done by the Chamber.

The Chamber has a major impact on business and future growth of the region.

This year's Executive is new, excited and full of fantastic ideas to grow our Membership and the community. Our intention is to maintain and strengthen a sound and healthy business climate, assist in solving community problems and initiate constructive action. We offer a broad understanding and appreciation of the great opportunities of our region and promote the advantages and assets of the area.

Trade Show & Sale 2007 was a tremendous success with the show bursting at the seams with new & old exhibitors, providing great exposure for all. We have received fabulous reviews from visitors and exhibitors alike. Plans are already underway for this fall's Small Business Week and our GALA Awards, the preparations to date promise a most marvelous and glamorous event.
